About Special Participation in Magh Pornima Vishesh Yagnopavit Sanskar of 101 Brahmins

Yagna means sacred ritual and Upaveetham means covering. Yagnopaveetham is hence the sacred covering of the body. Without the Yagnopaveetham, a Yagna/sacred ritual cannot be performed. It is known as “Poonal” in Tamil. It is a triple sacrificial filament joined by a knot called “Brahmagranthi”.

The 3 threads signify the three debts:

Debts to one’s Guru(Guru krin)
Debts to one’s parents and ancestors(Pithru krin)
Debts to sages, scholars and Gods(Rishi krin)

The three threads are also symbolic of Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh. And the Brahmins who wear the sacred thread get the License to Chant Gayatri Mantra and Read Vedas which ensures that they go on to preserve and Protect our Dharma.

Sponsoring the Yagnopavit of Needy Brahmins is one the Highest seva one can do to Honour their Ancestors. Support Kashi Archan in this Novel Act during the Purna Maha Kumbh Magh Purnima.
