Although you can recite Vishnu Sahasranama regularly at any time convenient to you, it is believed that it is best to recite it at sunrise. 

Install the urn and do the recitation

While reciting Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra, one must keep a 'jal kalash' or a glass of water in the temple or worship area. It is believed that its recitation is not complete without keeping a water kalash. You keep coconut and mango leaves on the kalash and start the recitation. After performing the puja properly and completing the recitation, offer yellow prasad to the Lord.
