Sheetla Devi Temple

Stuti & Sloka For The Temple

शीतले त्वं जगन्माता शीतले त्वं जगत्पिता।
शीतले त्वं जगद्धात्री शीतले त्वं जगद्गता॥

Chanting Maa Sheetla’s stotra is believed to cleanse the body of ailments and purify the mind of restlessness. Devotees offer neem, haldi, curd rice, and cold water to please the goddess and seek healing blessings.

Story of The Temple

According to Devi Bhagwat Purana, Maa Sheetla emerged from the divine fire of Shiva’s anger to destroy disease and pestilence. When humanity suffered from smallpox and fevers, she appeared as a calm, compassionate mother, carrying a cooling pot of healing water and riding a donkey.

It is said that visiting this temple in Varanasi grants immunity from ailments, especially to children, and shields the family from negative energies and unknown fears.

Importance of The Temple

  • Healer Goddess: Known to cure skin diseases, fever, smallpox, and chronic health problems.
  • Family Protection: Offers divine safety for children and expectant mothers.
  • Appeased through Simplicity: No fiery havans—Maa prefers cold foods, curd, neem, and peaceful offerings.
  • Navratri Significance: Special pujas are conducted during Chaitra & Ashwin Navratri, and Sheetla Saptami/Ashtami.
