Stuti & Sloka For The Temple
The temple's glory is centered around the sacred Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, found in the Rigveda. It is one of the most powerful chants in Sanatan Dharma.
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥
Meaning: "We worship the three-eyed One (Lord Shiva), who permeates and nourishes all like a fragrance. May He liberate us from the bondage of worldly death, just as a ripe cucumber is effortlessly separated from the vine."
Chanting this mantra in the sanctified ambiance of the temple is believed to ward off fatal diseases, planetary doshas, and premature death.
Story of The Temple
The temple holds a remarkable legend. During ancient times, Lord Dhanvantari, the celestial healer, emerged from the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) carrying the nectar of immortality. He established a holy well (Koop) near this temple, infusing it with the power of Ayurvedic herbs and healing energy.
Lord Shiva, pleased with this divine act, manifested here in the form of Mrityunjay Mahadev to protect devotees from untimely death (akaal mrityu). Hence, the temple became a sacred center for seekers of longevity, cure, and liberation.
The sanctum houses a Swayambhu Shivlinga, believed to be self-manifested and eternally powerful.
Importance of The Temple
Conqueror of Death: Lord Shiva as Mrityunjay grants freedom from deathly fear and karmic bondage.
Healing Waters: The well beside the temple is known to possess medicinal properties, used for ritual ablutions and healing.
Astrological Remedies: Strong belief exists that planetary doshas, especially Mangal and Shani, are pacified here.
Pitra Dosha Nivaran: Many come here during Pitra Paksha to conduct ancestral rites.
