Shree Batuk Bhairav Temple

Shree Batuk Bhairav Temple

Stuti & Sloka For The Temple

The Batuk Bhairav mantra and stutis are powerful tools for invoking divine protection, courage, and spiritual siddhis:

ॐ बटुकाय आपदुद्धारणाय कुरु कुरु बटुकाय नमः॥"
Om Batukaya Apaduddharanaya Kuru Kuru Batukaya Namah

Chant this mantra 108 times to seek protection from untimely danger, hidden enemies, and unknown obstacles.

Chanting these mantras regularly, especially on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Ashtami tithis, grants divine protection, destroys fear, and empowers the sadhaka.

Batuk Bhairav, the child-like and most approachable form of Lord Bhairava, is worshipped through potent mantras and stutis that invoke divine protection, victory over enemies, and liberation from fear. Devotees chant these sacred verses daily to awaken inner strength and remove obstacles on their spiritual path.

Story of The Temple

According to Puranic texts, when arrogance and demonic forces spread across the world, Lord Shiva took the fierce form of Bhairava to restore dharma. To make this intense energy accessible, Shiva manifested a gentler, child-like form known as Batuk Bhairav, who embodies both innocence and supreme power.

As per Kashi Khand, Lord Vishwanath assigned Batuk Bhairav the role of "Kotwal" or chief guardian of Kashi. No pilgrimage or spiritual practice in Kashi is considered complete without darshan of Bhairav Baba.

It is believed that anyone entering or leaving Kashi is watched and judged by Bhairav Baba. Those who seek moksha must receive his blessings first.

Importance of The Temple

Shree Batuk Bhairav Temple holds a deeply revered place in the spiritual heart of Kashi, not just as a place of worship, but as a gateway to divine justice, protection, and inner strength. Here’s why this temple is of immense importance:

  • Kashi Ke Kotwal – The Guardian of Varanasi:- Batuk Bhairav is not just a form of Shiva; he is the divine sentinel of Kashi, spiritually known as its Kotwal (chief protector). No spiritual seeker can attain liberation in Kashi without his grace. Entry into Kashi, and even exit from the mortal world here, is considered incomplete without his blessings.
  • Protector Against Negativity and Evil Forces:- Devotees worship Batuk Bhairav for powerful shielding from black magic, nightmares, evil spirits, and drishti dosha (evil eye). Lighting mustard oil lamps and offering black sesame is believed to neutralize dark energies and purify one’s aura.
  • Siddhi Sthal for Tantrik & Spiritual Sadhana:- Shree Batuk Bhairav Mandir is recognized as a Siddha Peeth, where many yogis, tantriks, and advanced seekers perform Bhavuk Bhairav Sadhana. The spiritual vibrations here are ideal for gaining siddhis (spiritual attainments), protection mantras, and occult wisdom under divine guidance.
  • Karma Shuddhi & Enemy Destruction:- This temple is a powerful Karma Shuddhi Kendra, where devotees pray to clear ancestral karma, remove hidden enemies, and resolve past life doshas. Bhairav Archanas and Jaaps performed here are believed to burn away karmic blockages and bring swift justice.
  • Approachable Gana of Lord Shiva:-  Batuk Bhairav, as a child form of Lord Bhairava, is gentle yet mighty. He is easy to please and highly responsive to sincere prayers, making him a favorite of householders, students, and spiritual seekers alike. His divine presence ensures swift relief from fear and confusion.
  • Special Worship Days – Shravan Month & Bhairav Ashtami:- During Shravan, the temple sees thousands of devotees observing fasts and offering deep daan (mustard oil lamps). On Bhairav Ashtami, elaborate tantrik pujas, homas, and Bhairav Jaap Anushthans are conducted for health, protection, and victory.
