Stuti & Sloka For The Temple
A sacred sloka dedicated to this Tirtha is often recited before rituals:
“ॐ नमः पिशाच मोचनाय नमः।
सर्व पाप विनाशाय, पितृ तृप्ति प्रदायकाय नमः॥”
Chanting this stuti before performing shraddh or pind daan ensures peace to the departed soul and blessings for the devotee’s family.
Story of The Temple
Nestled in the sacred city of Varanasi, Pishach Mochan Kund is a spiritually powerful Tirtha revered for its ability to free departed souls from sins and grant peace to ancestors. Mentioned in the Kashi Khand of the Skanda Purana, this Kund is believed to be a gateway of liberation from negative karmas, preta dosha, and ancestral afflictions. Thousands of devotees come here to perform Pind Daan, Shraddh, Tarpan and Moksha rituals for their forefathers.
According to scriptures, when Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva manifested the holy city of Kashi, demons (Pishachas) began disturbing spiritual practices. Lord Shiva struck the earth with his trident, creating this Kund and granting it the power to liberate souls from pishach dosha. Hence, any soul burdened by unnatural death, preta dosha, or unfulfilled karmas finds peace through rituals performed here.
Importance of The Temple
One of the oldest sacred water tanks of Varanasi, mentioned in Skanda Purana.
A powerful place for Pind Daan, Shraddh, and Narayan Bali rituals.
Believed to remove the curse of preta dosha, pishach badha, and pitru dosha.
