Lolark Kund

Lolark Kund

Stuti & Sloka For The Temple

Devotees chant Surya mantras and prayers at Lolark Kund, such as:

“ॐ घृणिः सूर्य आदित्यः।”
(Om Ghrinih Surya Adityah – A powerful mantra invoking the healing blessings of Surya Dev.)

Chanting this mantra while offering arghya (water) to the Sun at Lolark Kund is said to remove health issues, bestow fertility, and grant long life.

Story of The Temple

Among the countless holy sites of Kashi, Lolark Kund holds a special place. Known as the “Sun Tank of Varanasi,” this sacred water reservoir is dedicated to Lord Surya (the Sun God) and is believed to grant blessings of health, progeny, and longevity. The word Lolark means “Trembling Sun,” symbolizing the divine cosmic energy present here. Thousands of devotees flock here, especially during Lolark Shashti, to perform rituals and take a holy dip in the kund for blessings of children, marital bliss, and removal of diseases.

As per legend, when Surya Dev manifested in Kashi to bless the people, his divine energy created Lolark Kund. It is believed that a dip here washes away infertility and disease. Childless couples especially visit the Kund during Lolark Shashti festival, offering special chadava like fruits, clothes, and jewelry into the waters, praying for the blessing of a healthy child.

Lolark Kund in Kashi is a rare and sacred place where the Sun God’s blessings flow directly through water. Whether seeking health, fertility, or prosperity, devotees experience divine energy here. A visit to this Kund connects one with the eternal healing rays of Surya Dev.
