Story of the Temple
Lakshmi Kund is situated around the Luxa road of Varanasi. The old name of Lakshmi Kund is also Laxman Kund.
The legend is associated with the Lakshmi Kund. Legend has it that 64 Yoginis were entrusted by Shiva with the task of guarding and protecting the various Kunds and poweful areas of Kashi.
Importance of the Temple
1)Maha Laxmi Kund is one of the most famous temples of Varanasi, where Maha Laxmi Devi resides in the Siddhidatri Swaroop, devotees on the 9th day of Navratri visit the temple in large numbers to attain the blessings of Maa Bhagwati.
2)On the Dhan Trayodashi Tithi also known as 'Dhanteras' there is a special significance to worship Maha Laxmi Devi in the kund.
3)On the Karthik Poornima Tithi, a special Jhanki Darshan is organized for the devotees in the Laxmi Kund.
4)The 16-day Vrat ritual of Laxmi Kund is an annual affair that attracts lakhs of devotees to the Laxmi Kund for Vrat, Snan, and Daan.
5)In the Maha Lakshmi Temple the 'Trigunatmika' Swaroop of Maha Laxmi, Maha Kali, and Maha Saraswati reside together for the welfare of all the devotees.
6)Inside the temple deities like Morini (among the 64 Yoginis) Bhairav and Jeevputrika Devi make the temple special for the devotees.

Mela".
On its last day, women observe Jivitputrika fast and offer
their prayers at Lakshmi Kund itself.
